The inaugural Geisinger Health System Genomics and Public Health Summit, to be held on Thursday October 13, 2016, will explore the impact on our region's public health when a genomic approach is applied to clinical care. This approach builds on the MyCode project in which over 100,000 Geisinger patients have agreed to participate and receive back genomic sequence information that is expected to be important to their health and the health of their families. This summit will specifically explore the next level at which the approach will be important- namely the health of the community.

The faculty includes experts from the PA Department of Health, the National Institutes of Health, the Centers for Disease Control, the UCLA Center for Health Policy Research and Brown University Medical School who will join our Geisinger team to discuss advancing public health outcomes through the use of genomic testing. We are extremely grateful to both these experts and our patient participants.

This web based summit is freely available; the target audience for this event includes - clinicians, researchers, community organizations, patients and patient advocates.
